Seaton Museum

Seaton museum is well known for its excellent collection of old photographs of the area. These come mainly from the E.S. Gosling collection. There are many other displays including: The Roman site at Honeyditches, The Natural History of the area and a display of Victorian costumes. All are well worth a visit.

Axminster Museum

Originally the Police Station and Courthouse, the Museum is opposite St. Mary's Church in the centre of Axminster. Visitors may discover the old police cells which have now been incorporated into the Arts Cafe adjacent to the Museum.

Beer Quarry Caves

Beer Quarry Caves

Conducted tours by trained guides give the visitor an hour-long tour of this vast man-made complex of underground caverns created by centuries of quarrying the famous Beer Stone. The underground quarry, first worked by the Romans, supplied stone for 24 cathedrals including Exeter and St. Pauls, parts of Westminster Abbey, the Tower of London, Hampton Court and Windsor Castle.

Branscombe Bakery, Forge and Mill (National Trust)

The last traditional bakery to work in Devon, until 1987. The forge is the only thatched working forge in the country. Manor Mill is the only remaining grist mill in full working order. Restricted opening hours.

Coldharbour Mill

A 200 year old spinning mill set in the tranquil village of Uffculme, Coldharbour Mill is a rare example of surviving Georgian architecture, industry and enterprise. Take an exciting factory tour and see the mill’s impressive array of power sources including a recently restored 1821 High Breast Shot water wheel, the largest in the South West.

Seaton Electric Tramway

The three-mile route runs through East Devon's glorious Axe Valley, between the coastal resort of Seaton, the small village of Colyford and the ancient town of Colyton.

The journey takes 25 minutes from end to end. You must alight from the tram on arrival, but may return on any tram thereafter. Open toppers or enclosed saloons operate according to weather conditions.
